SportsCenter likes using music references

By Alex Young on March 1st, 2008 in News, Watch

If you’re like me, ESPN’s SportsCenter is usually on at all times of the day. Even if no one is watching it, the show is still on, essentially as background noise. Over the last month or so however, I’ve noticed that two particular anchors have been dropping quite a bit of music references throughout the show. During highlights or game analyses, John Buccigross and Neil Everett have been using hilarious and often obscure music related one liners.

Just check out the opening monologue from Thursday night’s show…

Awful Announcing says the Springsteen referencing continued throughout the show.Want more?

How about Everett singing Flight of the Conchords’ “Business Time”?

Personally, I’ve even heard a Craig Finn of the Holdy Steady name drop.

Something certainly seems to be in the water over at ESPN…
